UNDER 10's

1st March 2009 Downall Green 0 - 4 Ashton Athletic

With a good firm flat pitch Ashton showed just what they are capable of.  It only took 6mins for Ashton to get there first chance on goal a shot wide of the post from Joe.  A minute later Jason latched on to a through ball  and slotted it past the goalie to open Ashton’s account.  Two other chances going wide Ashton looked hungry to get a second and it came on the 13th minute from Lewis and he kept his composure and took his chance well.  Ashton kept the tempo going but with chance after chance could not get a third before half time, with Ashton finishing the first half with 7 chances on goal to Downall Green’s 3.  The second half started with Jason being rested and Sam “sniffer” Smith taking his place up front. It only took 3mins for Ashton to get their first chance of the half with Joe knocking it wide,2mins later saw Sam hitting his shot wide of the post.  On the 27min Sam broke the line getting on the end of some brilliant passing to open his account and take Ashton 3 nil up.  Chance after chance came and went and Man of the Match Joe Yates, instrumental in midfield failed to score what would have been the goal of the season and a run that was nearly the full length of the pitch.  With the tempo of the game running high Ashton scored their 4th on 31mins, again Sniffer getting on the end of a pass that came from some brilliant one,two passing moves.

Its fair to say Ashton were awesome and totally dominated the game with pace and better football. It is hard to comprehend that they are kids but today played like professionals
