8th September 2009 Hindley Junior Bears 2 - 4 U11's
On a rain soaked night at Klaussner Park saw two teams with determination to win. Ashton with a couple of players missing through injuries settled their nerves when Jamie opened the scoring with a thunderous right shot low in to the bottom corner. Hindley with a well worked midfield kept pressing forward but could not get the equalizer. On a counter attack Ashton worked the ball down the right through Jamie and Joe and set Lewis up to slot it past the keeper to take it to 2 – 0. Again though Hindley, with some fast passing and movement, managed to get behind the Ashton defence to peg the score to 2–1. Ashton from the restart settled it down and with some good passing from the back line saw James play the ball to Faisal who switched the play through the middle and with the final pass from Jason to Kieran saw Kieran strike the ball from wide right to chip the keeper.HT 3-1 to Ashton. The second half started with the usual midfield battled between Hindley and the Ashton Rock in Regan, who never stopped all match trying to breakdown the Hindley attack, finally got his reward again from some good passing and running from the ever industrious Jamie who sent the ball through Jake to the back post to Reagan to header it home. Jason kept the Hindley defence on their toes with some superb running and tackling could not cap it off with a goal. Matt Hiley played the full game in nets and a big thank you to him for filling in. Final score 4-2 to Ashton and the MoM to Jamie.
