Ashton Athletic

A much improved Golborne team played their part in an entertaining game.  Golborne had the early chances but could not turn them into goals with Kieran, James and Joe being strong from the start.  It was Matty that got on the goal sheet first after some good work and a through ball from Regan, and it would be Regan that started the moved for Matty’s second after a thunderous tackle and the ball spilled to Jamie who played it through for Matty to slot home.  Jamie would get the third after some good work from Callum and Lewis.HT 3-0.  With some changes made Ashton stayed in the driving seat and set about to increase their goal tally but again Golborne rallied well and with some superb goal keeping from the Golborne goalie made it hard work for Ashton.  Jason got on the goal sheet by latching on to Regan’s shot after a through ball from Callum, to knock it in before it had chance to get over the line.  Soon after, Jason was back on the score sheet after some good work from Regan, Joe and Callum.  Golborne mounted their own attack and their number nine deserved a goal after the hard work he had put in but just could not get past a resilient Ashton defence.  Regan got the goal he had been hunting for all game after some good work from Lewis who slid a delightful ball in to the path of Regan.  The goal of the game came from Lewis after a move started by Kieran through to Callum to Faisal to Joe to Callum to Lewis who then finished it off to keep him top of the goal scorers table. FT 7-0
