6th April 2010 Ashton Athletic U11 10 - 1 Hindley Juniors Sharks
The game started 8 a side due to Hindley not having enough players but this did not stop Ashton playing their normal fast paced passing game. Ashton were quick to get the scoreboard ticking when Jason got on the end of a through ball from Regan to beat the keeper. The second would be quick to follow when Callum tackled the Hindley defender to slot it past the keeper. Jason added his second when he pounced on a cross from Callum, Ashton now 3-0 up and were not in a forgiving mood and kept the pressure on Hindley. Ashton playing well has a team kept the Hindley keeper busy and he pulled off some superb saves, but time would tell when after some good team work and build up play Jason made his hat-trick and stretched Ashton to 4-0. Hindley tried to get the ball moving but with Regan in the middle of the park they could not get their way through a determined defence. Lewis joined the play and was holding the ball up well and went close but for some brilliant goal keeping. Lewis persevered and from a brilliant chip over the top of the defence from Callum, Lewis was not going to waste this chance and beat the keeper, 5-0ht. Hindley started the second half a little bit more spirited and Ashton were taken a back and found their momentum temporarily disrupted. It was fitting that Jason got the second half going like he did the first when he latched on the end of a superb cross from Jake to take his tally to 4. Jamie would make it 7 for Ashton after going close on a couple of occasions managed to find the back of the net when he picked up a loose ball. Jamie would be the provider the 8th when after a brilliant run sent in a cross that was flicked on by Joe and Callum with a right foot smack in to the top right corner. The 9th was a goal of brilliance when Jake set off from deep and cut in to the box and danced his way through the defence. Lewis in determined mood to stay at the top of the goal scorers chart got his second when he got on the end of a Jake corner and got the 10th for Ashton. A mix up in the Ashton box between Jimbo and Regan saw the clearance land at the feet of the Hindley striker and he wasted no time to find the back of the net for a deserved goal for a team that never let their heads drop and kept trying all game.
