28th March 2010 Ashton Athletic U11 3 - 0 Hindley Juniors Bears
Both teams were short on numbers due to school holidays or injuries but this did not distract from what was an entertaining game. Both teams adopted an attacking style of play and both fought hard for a result. Both keepers were called in to action early on with both teams battling to get on top. Callum was to break the deadlock after a brilliant cross from Joe which Callum took well but for the keeper to parry it out but it landed at Callum’s feet and he was not going to miss with a second chance. 1-0 half time. Hindley came out the blocks the quickest in the second half and made quite a few chances, Jimmy pulled off some superb saves and Hindley hit some wide. It was from a Hindley attack that saw Ashton break down the left with some good passing between Callum and Faisal, Faisal superb cross was met by the charging Jamie to hit past the keeper. Again though Hindley kept breaking the Ashton line but could not turn their chances in to points. It would be Ashton that would extend their lead after being awarded a free kick outside the Hindley box which Regan glided in a brilliant cross for Jamie to claim his second and take Ashton to 3-0
It could have been a completely different score line had Hindley taken their chances, two good teams with some good football on display
