25th April 2010 KO cup Quarter final, Billinge Rangers 0 - 3 Ashton Athletic
Both teams started a little nervous with Billinge getting on top of a very sluggish Ashton. Ashton struggled to get the passing game going and let Billinge knock them off their game with some tough tackling. It was Ashton that broke the deadlock when Regan set off on one of his runs and crossed it in the box for Joe to calmly slot it past a very good keeper 1-0. The first half was end to end football both teams trying to mount attack after attack with both defences having to work hard. Ashton were awarded a penalty after Reagn was borught down in the box, Faisal couldnt make it count and hit it straight at the keeper who held on to it. Ashton started the second half with more composure and started to play their normal game and forced Billinge back. Ashton built attack after attack and Billinge scrambled well in defence to block shots and if any shots did get through the Billinge keeper was on top of his game and made everything stick. Ashton started to take their chances early and Callum showed the way with a brilliant left footed lob from just inside the Billinge half and it dipped in behind the outstretched keeper 2-0. Ashton were now in control of the game winning the midfield battle and keeping the ball wide. The third came from a Callum free kick which was saved by the keeper but for the ball to bounce out and amidst the goal line scramble up popped Jakeydinho to slot it home 3-0.
A good game of football and a true quarter final tussle, well done to both teams
